The West Point Society of Tallahassee, Inc. (WPST), a not-for-profit fraternal and community service organization comprised of members residing throughout the central Florida panhandle and south Georgia, exists to promote the mission of the United States Military Academy (USMA) and to increase public awareness of the core ideals on which the Academy is founded: Duty - Honor - Country.
The West Point Society of Tallahassee, Inc. seeks to fulfill these ends through support and sponsorship of three principle kinds of activity: Each is rooted in, and derives its purpose from, the Mission of the United States Military Academy, as stated below:
Mission Statement of the USMA at West Point
"To educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the ideals of Duty, Honor, Country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the nation as an officer in the United States Army."
Educational Outreach and Candidate Support / Assistance: The West Point Society of Tallahassee, Inc. will promote and support USMA in this noble mission primarily by facilitating the process of identifying outstanding young men and women in the geographic area of WPST who may be potential candidates for admission to the Academy, by assisting them in preparation of admissions packets, and then by supporting them in the federally prescribed nomination process for appointment to the Academy.
Community Outreach: The West Point Society of Tallahassee, Inc. will also strive to increase public awareness of the ideals of the Academy though sponsorship of community service initiatives and activities which are consistent with the moral code of Duty - Honor - Country. These initiatives and activities provide WPST members an opportunity to support the local community, while also informing and educating community leaders about West Point's legacy of providing leaders of character for a lifetime of selfless national service.
Fraternal Outreach: Finally, the West Point Society of Tallahassee, Inc. will provide support and outreach to graduates of the Academy and to friends of West Point by sponsoring a year-round agenda of fraternal activities and outreach projects aimed at building camaraderie and continuing to inspire WPST members to lifetimes of selfless service, not only to the nation, but to the local community as well.
